What is industral data standard?
Industrial data standards refer to international standards developed by ISO TC 184/SC 4 to standardize the format and meaning of data generated in industrial activities, ensuring that various stakeholders can efficiently utilize it.
STEP (Standard for the Exchange of Product model data) is one of the most representative international standards under SC 4, providing a framework for exchanging and managing product data. In addition to STEP, there are over 800 industrial data standards supporting various industries.
Industrial data standards facilitate seamless data exchange among companies within the supply chain. For example, a project in the U.S. automotive industry validated CAD data exchange standards between automakers, parts suppliers, and second-tier vendors.
In South Korea, companies such as Hyundai Motor Company, Mobis, and Hyosung Electric are adopting industrial data standards to systematically exchange and utilize product data.
산업 데이터 표준은 ISO TC 184/SC 4에서 제정하는 국제표준으로, 제조 및 산업 활동에서 생성되는 데이터를 다양한 이해관계자들이 원활하게 활용할 수 있도록 데이터의 포맷과 의미를 표준화하는 것을 목표로 합니다.
STEP(Standard for the Exchange of Product model data)은 SC 4의 대표적인 국제표준으로, 제품 데이터를 교환하고 관리하기 위한 핵심 표준입니다. 이외에도 800여 종의 산업 데이터 표준이 존재하며, 다양한 산업 분야에서 활용되고 있습니다.
산업 데이터 표준은 실제 산업 환경에서 공급망(Supply Chain) 내 기업 간 원활한 데이터 교환을 가능하게 합니다. 예를 들어, 미국 자동차산업에서 완성차 제조사, 부품 협력사, 2차 협력사 간의 CAD 데이터 교환 표준을 검증하는 프로젝트가 수행되었습니다.
한국의 경우, 현대자동차, 모비스, 효성전기 등과 같은 기업들이 산업 데이터 표준을 적용하여 제품 데이터를 체계적으로 교환하고 활용하는 사례를 만들고 있습니다.
